“I can’t believe this!”
The voice is
the enraged voice of the ever-so-lovely oldest daughter of Angelica Jones. No, not Corey Jones, who already has a
contract to wrestle for Supreme Championship Wrestling, but instead the daughter
who is contracted to wrestle for the Independent Wrestling Cartel.
Yes, we are
talking about “The Crown Jewel of Professional Wrestling”, “The Phoenix” Marie
Annabelle Jones.
Young Marie
just wants to be able to compete. She
wants to compete with the best, against the best, in order to prove that she is
the best. It’s the competitive nature
that comes naturally from her mother, SCW’s own Angelica Jones.
If you know
Angelica and you know that her family is just as competitive as she is, then
you should know that Marie Annabelle Jones takes that competitive streak and
turns it up several degrees. Back in IWC
she did everything she could to try and win the Last Stand Rumble but came up
just short. She used every resource
available to her, including Silas Mason, to manage to get into the Invictus II
main event for the world title but she failed to capture the big belt. She got yet a third opportunity against IWC’s
Uprising World Champion Vanilla Skyy and again she failed to capture the gold.
Failure is
not in Marie’s vocabulary. She will not
accept failure. She will keep fighting,
she will never give up. That’s just who
she is. Marie does not wish to rest or
relax until she has gotten her career back on track.
Unfortunately
the Independent Wrestling Cartel will not let her compete. She was injured during a match and has been
put on medical leave. In other words,
she is on the shelf and IWC will not clear her to compete.
“This is an outrage!”
Now you can
see why Marie is so upset.
We open in
the Jones family homestead in Boston, Massachusetts. The Jones Family Christmas has just come to
an end. Everyone has come and gone and
the only people who remain are Angelica and Kayla Jones as well as Angelica’s
oldest daughter Marie. The Sisterhood
sits side-by-side on a plush comfortable leather sofa, watching the younger
generation of Jones pace the floor in angst and frustration.
“Do you think we should calm her down?”
Kayla
asks. Angelica just shakes her head, grinning
knowingly.
“No, let’s let her fume for a little bit
longer.”
The younger
Jones paces the floor angrily, wearing a knee length black skirt, black high
heeled pumps, and a wine colored long sleeve sweater. Her long red hair hangs unrestrained down to
shoulder length. Kayla is fully clothed in blue jeans, flip flops, and a black “SCW”
t-shirt. Her long red hair is pulled
into a ponytail in the back. Angelica,
the matriarch of the Jones family, is wearing a tight form fitting black dress
and strappy high heeled shoes.
“I should be competing! They have no right to keep me from the
action! This is bullshit!”
Angelica,
having seen and heard enough from her angry daughter, sighs and decides to
speak up.
“Marie, darling, they DO have the authority
to do that. If they feel your safety is
at risk due to that injury then yes, they can keep you from competing.”
Marie shakes
her head. “No…”
“No?”
“No. IWC
lets people get away with attempted murder and yet they want to pretend like
they give a damn about my safety? They
don’t give a damn about my safety. They’re
just using this as an excuse to keep me from competing!”
“Oh for God’s sake!”
Kayla
exclaims loudly as she shoots up from her seat on the sofa. She approaches her niece not so cautiously
and not so carefully. Immediately Kayla
rears back and slaps Marie Annabelle Jones hard and fast across the cheek. Marie rubs her cheek gently so as to ease the
stinging pain. It doesn’t hurt,
really. It was more of a surprise than
anything else. She wasn’t expecting her
aunt Kayla to do that.
“Aunt Kayla…”
“Shut up, Marie.” Kayla says harshly and
definitively. “Shut up and listen to me
for just one second.”
Angelica
snickers. “One second?”
“You know what I mean.” Kayla snaps back
at Angelica before turning her attention back to Marie. “Listen to yourself, you are still whining and bitching and
moaning. You are still crying about how
IWC is trying to screw you over.”
“So?
They clearly are.”
“Whether they are or not is irrelevant.”
Kayla snaps back. “My point is that you promised
to change and, from where I stand, it seems as if you have not changed one
iota.”
Kayla takes
her niece by the hands and gently helps her down onto the sofa, sitting in
between her and her mother. Kayla gazes
deep into Marie’s eyes.
“I hate to sound so harsh. I hate to put it so bluntly. But it’s the truth and you know it.”
Marie sighs
and, upon realizing her aunt is right, she nods her head. “You’re right, Aunt Kayla. You
are absolutely right. I cannot and I
should not just continue to whine and complain, but…”
The redhead
wipes some tears from her eyes “…but when
will I get to compete again? When will
IWC clear me to compete?”
“I guess you may have to just sit and wait…”
Angelica’s
voice trails off. The mere possibility
of not getting to compete causes Marie to look even more downtrodden. But Kayla’s
face grows happy, joyous, a grin upon her face.
Marie notices this.
“What’s making you so happy about this?”
“Yeah, I’d like to know the answer to that
one myself.” Angelica pipes in.
“Marie shouldn’t be complaining. But at the same time, she doesn’t have to
just sit and take it either.”
“What does that mean?” Marie asks
curiously.
“You cannot compete in IWC until you have
been medically cleared by their staff.
But that doesn’t mean some other wrestling company won’t clear you to
compete.”
Angelica’s
eyes grow wide. “I think I see where you’re
going with this, sis.”
“Well I don’t.” Marie answers.
Kayla grabs
her niece by her hands. “Think about it,
Marie. Just think. There are other wrestling companies out
there. Your mother and I are involved
with many of them. One of them in
particular is hosting a battle royal, an end of the year battle royal, where
anyone and everyone is invited to participate.”
“Supreme Championship Wrestling?”
Kayla nods
her head. “Exactly.”
“You’re suggesting I enter the SCW End of
the Year Battle Royal?”
“Why not?” Kayla insists. “This would be a perfect opportunity for you
to make a statement and send a message to the Independent Wrestling Cartel by
winning that battle royal, showing them that you are not only ready to return
but that you are also the future of IWC.”

My name is
Marie Annabelle Jones, I am the oldest daughter of Angelica Jones, someone you
SCW people should know very well. As for
who am I? I am The Phoenix because no
matter how many times you keep knocking me down, I keep getting back up. I also consider myself to be The Crown Jewel
of Professional Wrestling.
Of course I
can call myself the Queen of England and it doesn’t make it so. Actions have to back up words and while I can
talk a good game, it is high time that I backed up my words with actions and
accomplishments. It is time that I
proved to the wrestling world exactly what I am capable of.
Yes, I am a
member of the Independent Wrestling Cartel’s Uprising Brand. I guess I should be making my impact
there. Unfortunately IWC won’t clear me
to compete due to an injury, a silly injury, an injury that I know has been
healed. I am ready to go and I am ready
to make an impact. I am ready to prove
that I can be exactly what I say I am; The Crown Jewel of Professional
Wrestling.
Since IWC
won’t clear me to compete, then I have to circumvent them. I have to find a loophole. And there is one great big loophole out there
named Supreme Championship Wrestling’s End of Year Open Invitational Battle
Royal. Open Invitation means anyone can
participate. Open Invitation means that
I can wrestle without fear of any damn medical doctor orders holding me back.
And the
Independent Wrestling Cartel can do absolutely NOTHING about it.
To me this
isn’t about the $250,000 grand prize or the brand new car. I have money.
I have a car. I don’t need the
grand prize that the winner receives. So
for me, winning this battle royal is about something far greater than all of
that. This is about something far
greater than material possessions.
Winning this battle royal isn’t even about bragging rights for me.
Winning this
battle royal is about proving to myself personally that I AM exactly who and
what I say that I am…The Crown Jewel of Professional Wrestling, The Phoenix, and
potentially the future of this industry.
Independent
Wrestling Cartel has their reasons for keeping me on the shelf. I won’t go into what those reasons are and I
will not speculate. Their reasons are
their reasons. But I will say that they
are making a mistake by not utilizing a talent such as mine, because I am a
great talent, and I am going to prove it to them when I walk into SCW’s home
turf and win at their own game.
