It is a
bright and sunny day outside in Dallas, Texas, the city that shall play host to
one-quarter of SCW’s Best of the Best Tournament. Jessica Lasiewicz, a native of Boston,
Massachusetts, has no problem making the trek down to Dallas, Texas. To be honest, she has looked forward to
getting away from not only the bitter cold of Boston but also of the familiar
familial relationships that haunt her, that continue to plague her each and
every day.
Angelica
Jones, Jessica’s famous mother, claims that the Jones Family is united stronger
than ever before. That is only a partial
truth. The Jones Family is indeed united
in the sense that they are not feuding and fighting amongst themselves any
longer. But to say that they are
strongly united would be a great exaggeration to say the very least. For Angelica Jones, the matriarch of the
family, has sided with Silas Mason and Silas World. Marie Annabelle Jones, Angelica’s oldest
daughter and Jessica’s sister, has also joined with Silas Mason.
Therein lies
the problem; Jessica Lasiewicz is firmly against their allegiance to Silas
Mason. Jessica is convinced that Silas
Mason is a cancer and will do nothing but hurt their careers and thus Jessica,
being the concerned daughter and sister that she is, wants nothing more than to
protect her family in any way she can.
She wants to pull them away from Silas World, she wants show them the
light, so to speak.
That’s
easier said than done, especially when it seems as if Angelica and Marie are
both drunk with the Silas World kool-aid.
Unfortunately
for young Jessica, there are few things she can do to get through to her
family. Her options are truly
limited. The best she can hope to do, at
this point, is perhaps to quit beating the dead horse and move on to the next
best thing…
…winning.
Sometimes
success is the best evidence that you’re right.
Angelica won world championships shortly after siding with Silas and
only recently has her luck taken a different turn. Perhaps if she saw Jessica succeed without
the assistance of anyone, let alone without the assistance of a snake in the
grass like Silas Mason, then perhaps Angelica will come to her sense? Angelica can only hope. And the upcoming Best of the Best Tournament
is the perfect opportunity for Jessica to showcase her talents and skills for
the entire world to see.
It will be
quite a challenge for the Polish-American warrior to overcome. Tournaments are difficult enough, requiring a
great deal of endurance and fortitude, but Jessica may not even get out of the
first round, having to deal with the likes of Chris Cannon.
She did NOT
get a good draw. Cannon is tough, real
tough, and Jessica will clearly have to be on top of her game if she hopes to
overcome him and advance to the next rounds of the tournament.
Winning Best
of the Best, however, isn’t the only way Jessica figures that she can hopefully
make some sort of headway with her family.
After all, Angelica Jones and Marie Annabelle Jones are not the only
ones willing and open to talking.
There is, of
course, Kelly Jones, Jessica’s younger sister.
Angelica
Jones has three daughters; Marie whose father is Sean Williams, Jessica whose
father is Andreas Lasiewicz, and then Kelly whose father is Sean McBride. Kelly was the youngest of the three children
and, perhaps, the most innocent of them all, not having been influenced as much
by the poison of the industry as Marie and Jessica had been.
Jessica
Lasiewicz offered to take Kelly with her to Dallas for Best of the Best, all on
the premise of spending more time with her sister. That isn’t entirely false. Jessica does not spend as much time with
Kelly as she does with Marie and she wants to change that. But the truth is, she wants to get Kelly
alone and pick her brain.
Angelica was
more than willing to allow it, considering she has her own Best of the Best
Tournament Matches to deal with. The
less distractions the better.
And so Jessica
and her sister Kelly step out onto the poolside area of their hotel. Jessica dressed in her black bikini and flip
flops, carrying a beach towel, is out in front and Kelly, dressed in a
one-piece red swimsuit and flip flops, carrying her own beach towel, is
bringing up the rear.
“Gotta say Jess,” Kelly begins with a
cheerful tone in her voice “I am so glad
you and I are spending time together.”
“Oh really?”
“Uh-huh,” Kelly nods her head “for starters, I do NOT like Seattle and
considering mom is going to be there for this stupid tournament thingy, it just
doesn’t work out for me. Besides, I
always liked Texas. Cowboys and stuff
are cool.”
Jessica
cannot help but crack a grin as she listens to her younger sister go on and on
with her rant. She realizes how much she
has missed by not spending time with Kelly.
She really is a cool person to be around.
“Cowboys are cool?”
“Yes they are!” Kelly exclaims. “Well at least their hats are…”
Jessica
chuckles. “I’ll be sure to buy you a
cowboy hat before we leave.”
Much to Jessica’s
surprise, the two sisters have the pool to themselves; at least as of right
now. Jessica will not waste this
opportunity. Immediately she finds a
nice spot by the pool and drapes her towel down on it. Jessica then dives into the pool. Quickly she comes up for air and looks over
at her sister Kelly, who is already following suit in placing her towel down
but instead of diving into the pool, she is lying down on the towel.
“You’re not going to come in?”
“Nah!” Kelly responds. “I’d rather get some sun.”
“You didn’t exactly wear the proper swimsuit
for sunning…”
Kelly stares
daggers through Jessica. “Hush!”
Jessica
giggles as she herself does a few backstrokes. “You don’t have to be ashamed of your body, Kel…you have a nice figure.”
Kelly
smiles. “You think so?”
“I know so.” Jessica says, swimming to
the edge of the pool and then coming up to nod her head in approval. “I bet those other teenage guys who gave you
the eye know so too.”
Kelly
blushes furiously. “Shut up!”
“What?
Is that the other reason you wanted to come to Dallas?” Jessica
teases. “To see the Texas boys?”
“No, that’s NOT it!” Kelly insists.
“Then what is it?” Jessica asks as she
begins to take another lap around the pool.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Kelly
remarks.
“Why not?”
“You teased me.”
“Oh c’mon, Kel!” Jessica insists. “I’m sorry for teasing you.”
Kelly sighs.
“Still, I’d rather not say…”
“Why not?!” Jessica insists.
“You might get angry.”
“I promise not to get angry.”
Kelly looks
over at her sister, still making her laps in the pool, rather skeptically. Nevertheless she lets out a sigh and nods her
head in agreement.
“Fine…I’d rather be here with you than with
mom because I don’t want to be around Silas World all the time.”
“Huh?”
Jessica
stops dead in her tracks. Immediately
she begins to swim across the pool and towards her sister. Eventually The Morning Star makes it to the
edge of the pool where she pulls herself out, clearly deciding that now is the
time to end this exercise. Young
Lasiewicz picks up her towel and begins to dry herself off.
“Repeat that?”
Kelly shakes
her head. “I knew you’d be mad.”
“Did I say I was angry?” Jessica asks,
sounding a little frustrated. “I just
want you to repeat what you just said.”
Kelly sighs.
“I said I don’t like being around mom’s
Silas World pals.”
Jessica
places her towel back down on the ground.
She smiles down at her sister. “Good
to hear.”
“Yeah, I know you don’t like Silas World. You don’t have to give me your spill because
I agree with you.”
Jessica
ruffles Kelly’s hair. “Nice to know at
least you have a good head on your shoulders, kiddo.”
Jessica lies
back down on the towel. Kelly turns over onto her stomach. “It’s just a damn shame…”
Jessica
looks over at Kelly. “Language.”
Kelly rolls
her eyes. “It’s a darn shame…better?”
“Better.”
“It’s a DARN shame that mom thinks she needs
Silas Mason’s help to get ahead in this industry. And it’s a darn shame that Lindsey had to be
the one to put that idea into her head.”
“I know, right…” Jessica pauses suddenly
“…what did you just say?”
Kelly
frowns, realizing what she just said. “Um….oops?”
Jessica
shakes her head. “No, it’s too late. You said something. Now spill.”
“Look, don’t go ballistic on her, ok? Don’t go all Morning Star on her, ok? But…” Kelly nods her head “…yes, Lindsey kinda sorta manipulate mom into
firing Samantha Hodgson and hiring Silas Mason.”
Jessica
rolls her eyes. “Great…get rid of Hitler
only to pick up Stalin.”
“Don’t get mad at Lindsey.” Kelly
begs. “Please?”
“Don’t worry, I won’t get mad.” Jessica
smiles evilly. “But we are going to have
a little chat.”

It is
nighttime just outside of a bar in Dallas, Texas. You could expect to see any number of people
here except for one individual and that is the beautiful woman exiting the bar
at this point in time, wearing tight
little black dress and strappy heels….
…Lindsey
Carter, the wife of Angelica Jones.
Why is it
unexpected to see her here in Dallas, Texas tonight? Simply because her wife Angelica is competing
in Seattle. But Lindsey, being the head
of a multi-national corporation, has some business to take care of in
Texas. And then, much to her pleasant
surprise, she received a text message from Jessica Lasiewicz, Angelica’s middle
child, asking her to meet her at this bar.
If she’s
here in Texas anyway, why not come meet her?
She still has plenty of time to catch her private jet back to Seattle in
time to see Angelica compete.
Unfortunately
for Lindsey, she seemed to come up short.
It seemed as if Jessica stood her up as she waited…and waited…and waited
some more and the young Lasiewicz never showed.
So Lindsey shot her a text back, telling her she waited for her and that
she decided to leave. It’s getting late,
too late for her to stay out, anyway.
There is no telling what could happen this late at night.
Or who might
strike…
Lindsey
spots her long black limousine waiting on her.
She walks to the back and opens up the door and steps inside, shutting
the door behind her.
“Ok, driver, just take me back to my hotel…”
“Not yet.”
Lindsey
recognizes that voice. The doors lock
and before she can do anything the individual in the driver’s seat turns
around. It’s none other than Jessica
Lasiewicz herself. The young black haired
beauty has a sinister grin on her face as she stares daggers right through the
heart and soul of Lindsey Carter.
“Jessica?!” Lindsey laughs uneasily,
shocked to find her here. “What on earth
is this? Some kind of joke?!”
Jessica
shakes her head. “No joke, Lindsey. This is very, VERY real.”
Lindsey
still isn’t grasping the whole severity of the situation. Or perhaps she just doesn’t want to? Lindsey, after all, doesn’t quite know
Jessica or her father quite as well as Angelica does. This may not be in line with how a Jones
operates, but this is completely in line with the Lasiewicz mode of operation.
“Seriously, Jessie, what’s wrong?”
Lindsey asks. “First you stand me up,
then you pop up in here?”
Carter tries
to get out by unlocking the doors but, with the push of a button, Jessica locks
all the doors back again. Lindsey looks
on incredulously.
“What are you doing?!”
“You still do not grasp the fact that you…are
not…in control.” Jessica motions to herself. “I am in control.”
“What the hell do you mean?” Lindsey
demands. “Where is my driver?!”
“Oh he’ll come back soon enough.” Jessica
snickers. “Money talks, Linds. You should hire a more trustworthy and honest
limousine service.”
Lindsey
begins to grow more and more flustered by the moment as this tense situation
progresses.
“What’s your problem, Jessica?”
She points a
long slender finger at Lindsey. “My
problem…is you…”
“Huh?”
Jessica nods
her head. “I know, Lindsey. I know
everything…”
“Know what?”
“I know all about how you couldn’t stand
Samantha Hodgson. I know how you
manipulated my mother by lying to her into FIIRNG Samantha Hodgson and thus
instead signing on with Silas Mason.”
“Oh…” Lindsey’s voice trails off
momentarily “…that…”
“Yes, that,” Jessica sneers “I know all about that and what I want to
know from you is why?”
Lindsey
shakes her head, clearly upset. “Look,
there is a reason for everything, Jessie, and you may not understand it now,
but I know I was right in getting your mother away from Samantha Hodgson.”
“But is she any better off with Silas
Mason? Answer that.”
“I…I can’t…”
Jessica
shakes her head with disappointment. “Didn’t
think so. Now I’m going to tell you what
I intend to do…I fully intend to convince my mother, by any means necessary, that
she should drop Silas Mason like a ton of bricks. I will fix this mess that you created.”
“What if you can’t?”
Jessica
frowns. “You had just better pray that I
can because if I can’t, then my rage will be directed towards you…you are not
family, you may be my mother’s wife but you are NOT family to me in any way
shape or form and I feel no connection towards you, thus I will feel NO guilt
as a result of anything I do to you. So
yes, just pray that I am successful in tearing mother away from Silas World,
because if I cannot destroy that relationship…”
She points a
finger at Lindsey “….then I destroy you.”

Best of the
Best…some may say that’s an appropriate name for such a star-studded
tournament. I find it ironic, mainly
because everyone claims to be The Best of the Best. Everyone.
From Kennedy Street to Havok Warrior Exodus, every single SCW superstar
lays claim to being the best wrestler on the planet.
If Kennedy
loses, she’ll still claim to be the best and she has that fancy gold belt that
seemingly proves it. But to be perfectly
frank, almost everyone in this tournament, no matter what city they are
starting out in, no matter who they are, will no doubt still consider themselves
the best even after this tournament concludes, even if they fall flat on their
face.
It’s the
infamous pro-wrestling ego. Damn near
every professional wrestler in this industry has one. You about have to have an ego in order to
survive. So will this Best of the Best
Tournament really settle anything? It’s
doubtful. I hate to say it, but that’s
just me being realistic, ladies and gentlemen.
So why,
then, are we doing this? What purpose
doing this sports spectacle serve other than bragging rights and ego?
The answer
is simple: trying to prove that you are the best is the purpose of this sport.
It always has been, it always will be until it ceases to exist. Professional wrestling is and always will be
a sport of ego, a sport of proving that you are justified in having an ego, and
the only way to justify one’s own ego is to put down everyone else.
I’m a
different cookie. I march to the beat of
a different drummer. I always have. Back in the Independent Wrestling Cartel, they
were pushing me into the Queen of the Ring Championship division, a title I had
no desire to win. Hell, I had no desire
to win ANY championships at the time.
And yet I won it. I won the IWC
Queen of the Ring Championship.
Now I am in
Supreme Championship Wrestling and yet again my purpose is far different those
of the other superstars on the roster and that, no doubt, separates me from my
competition in Best of the Best. I look
at those in the Dallas Brackets and certain names pop up.
Regan Street
sold her soul for the promise of potentially becoming champion.
Kennedy
Street is already world champion and will do anything to keep it.
Chris
Cannon, my first round opponent, is a former title holder himself and would
love to get back on top.
Me? I am here for one reason and one reason only
and that is to show my mother and sister the error of their ways. My purpose is to take the relationship
between Silas Mason and the Jones Family and burn it to the fucking ground.
I have tried
the traditional methods. I have tried to
be reasonable. But clearly the
traditional methods are not working, clearly my mother is not listening and
neither is my sister. But I refuse to
give up. If they won’t hear my words
then perhaps they will sit up and pay attention to my actions. If I cannot accomplish my goals peacefully
then I’ll burn everything down on my way towards accomplishing my goal.
I have seen
war and I hate war but unfortunately peace is oftentimes ignored. Action is heard louder than words and if
action is what is required, then action is what the world will get.
I will march
through the Best of the Best Tournament, one by damn one, by damn one,
beginning with Chris Cannon and continuing with whoever the hell else may get
in my way. I do not guarantee victory,
but I guarantee that you will sit up and take notice of me, you will sit up and
take notice of Jessica Lasiewicz. I
guarantee that when I am through here in Dallas, Texas, you will all know that
The Morning Star is to be respected…
…and feared.
For me this
isn’t about bragging rights, this is about making a damn statement.
