The woman sitting here at
this table in the small cafe has gone by many names. Jessica Jones first,
then Jessica Lasiewicz, then Corey Jones, now she’s back to her original name
of Jessica Jones. She’s endured an identity crisis before but now she
appears to be fairly confident of who she is and what she needs to do, despite
a recent struggle. She claims to have seen the light. And that
light, perhaps, has come from this woman having a drink with her this
afternoon; a former rivals, but now Loretta Inglewood is one of Jessica’s
mentors.
“Thank you for meeting me
here, Ms. Inglewood.”
With a cordial smile,
Loretta says, “I’ll always make time for you.”
“It is rather difficult to
admit when you’ve made a mistake.” Jessica sighs before taking a sip of her
coffee. “I tried so hard all of my professional career to fight the good fight
and most of the time I ended up on my own, even the few times I had a partner
or an ally they would eventually turn on me, showing how corrupt they really
and truly were. I thought I could make a difference on my own.”
She shakes her head. “I was
wrong, and I shunned like-minded individuals like yourself and Ms. Austin, but
I won’t make that mistake again. Thank you for your patience and being a
mentor to me, Ms. Inglewood.”
Loretta takes a sip from
her drink, “I have always possessed a fondness for you, Jessica. We’ve had our
disagreements in the past. I never doubted this day would come. We are bound by
more than a common purpose to be a beacon of purity and class for a world that
is mired in darkness.” Loretta points to her heart. “We’re soulmates. Our
vessels may change. Our souls will always find their way to one another. Being
your mentor brings me profound joy.”
“I need you as a mentor,
Ms. Inglewood, to guide me in the way of purity, especially in when I am by
myself. In GCW I have you, Ms. Austin, and Summer. But I also
compete for Motor City Wrestling in Detroit. I’m sure you saw the chaos
that went on last Mayhem. How do I mentally deal with that impurity while
also facing some cretin like Drew Stevenson?”
“I’m fully aware. Fitting
the second company you work for home is Detroit. That city is a hotbed of
filth.” Loretta shudders. “Hold true to your values. We falter at times. Curse
of the human condition. Ascending the curse shows us how much higher we can go.
Constant battle. It’s one worth fighting.”
“I shall do my best, Ms.
Inglewood. I shall uphold the standards and I will take down Drew Stevenson.”

Well isn’t
this something? I told you that Motor
City Wrestling was corrupt, I told you that the inmates ran the asylum, I told
you that this entire business is corrupt.
I became The Archangel in order to do something about it and I felt
that, considering my familial connection to Motor City Wrestling, that I could
make a difference here in this company.
Yet what do
we see last Mayhem in Manchester? An
orchestrated plot to annihilate three MCW legends, all led by a man who faked
his own death. Whitecloud is scum, plain
and simple. Who else would fake his own
death to his own loved ones only to return in the manner that he did?
A dark cloud
of evil now hangs over Motor City Wrestling and no one seemingly gives a damn.
Everyone was slapping each other on the back.
Everyone was congratulating each other on a great show.
I vomited a
little bit in my mouth after seeing that display. But it was a display that further encouraged
me, reinvigorated me, and refocused me on my goal of purifying MCW of its filth
that seemingly runs rampant.
And that’s bad
news for a great many people, including Drew Stevenson.
The truth
is, Drew, that we have some things in common.
Both of us are still relatively new to MCW. The only difference being that I do at least
have a familial tie to this company. We
both came up short against the Motor City Champion Jacob Laymon.
At least
your match against him was non-title; I fought him in a title match and came up
on the losing end. Think about I feel.
I respect
what you’re trying to do here, Drew. You
want to be a success, just like I do.
But I also want more than just success.
I want to rid this company of its filth.
Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?
I can’t
say. I haven’t known you long enough to
judge you. What I will tell you is that
there IS a problem in MCW and I AM the damn solution to that problem! And you, if you decide to be a part of the
problem, I will do more than just defeat you on Mayhem, I will END you on
Mayhem.
Winning isn’t
everything for me, but if I continue to lose then I will not be taken seriously
in my true quest to end the corruption in this cesspool known as Motor City
Wrestling. So yes, this match is
important for me, not just to get back into title contention, but to put the
cancer of MCW on notice that its chemotherapy is about to begin, that the cure
has arrived and her name is Jessica Jones, The Archangel.
Come and
place your pets, Drew. Dobranoc…
